Fatherhood, twice over

Our eldest daughter will turn 3 years old this March. After the first few sleepless months of making her milk in the middle of the night and cleaning after her poop, wee-wee and barf, things have finally settled down. We have been blessed with an inquisitive and precocious child. I have been pleasantly surprised numerous times regarding the fantastic progress that she has made. At babycenter, she has consistently surpassed the milestones appropriate for her age, except for her supposedly being fully toilet trained by now (ooops!). As I am typing this now, she is beside me playing a memory game on the iPhone, a device that she learned to navigate on her own. She can already read letters and numbers, and can converse in complete sentences. When we were young, a child was already considered gifted if he or she could read by the age of 3 years. I am guessing that, with the advent of information technology, the way of thinking of the next generation will also be wired differently. It’s a totally …

Why are lovely ladies attracted to married men?

For a deeper understanding of the lovely lady (of my earlier post Amah, lovely lady, John Travolta and Uma Thurman)… According to Health And Marriage: Benefits For Men, studies show that married men apparently have less stress, as indicated by having less of the stress hormone cortisol, compared with their single counterparts. However, studies also show that having low levels of cortisol make men more attractive to women. The findings come from Dr. Fhionna Moore, a psychology lecturer at Abertay University. “We analysed different levels and combinations of cortisol and testosterone and found a strong link between low cortisol levels, which is present when someone has low stress levels, and being highly attractive to women.” From uk.askmen.com Hmmm…

Rubi: the larger-than-life diplomat

We love pasta so much, we just have to pay tribute to Porfirio Rubirosa, Rubi. He was a diplomat, a polo player, a race car driver, and…an international playboy. He is perhaps the most interesting diplomat of the past century. He’s good at his job because women like him, and he’s a wonderful liar. Trujillo He was born in 1909 to a former Chargé d’Affaires at the Dominican consulate in Paris. He himself became a diplomat to Berlin and an ambassador to Cuba (www.askmen.com). He raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1950 and 1954, as well as in Formula 1 in 1955. He was linked to Judy Garland, Eva Peron, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe. If that is not enough, the list goes on to include Contessa Nicola-Gambi of Italy, Countess Marita of Spain, Empress Soraya of Iran and Queen Alexandra of Yugoslavia (www.observer.com). His divorces with Barbara Hutton and Dorothy Duke, two of the richest women in the world at that time, gained him millions, villas, …
